About the Quaker Star
The eight-pointed star you see here is often called the Quaker Star. It's a modern symbol used especially among U.S. Quaker communities. Inspired by a compass rose, it reflects our commitment to peace, simplicity, and service in all directions.
In the past, the red and black version has been used by Quaker organizations like the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), especially in work for justice, humanitarian relief, and peacemaking around the world.
Each point can also remind us of the SPICES values that guide our lives as Friends: Simplicity, Peace, Integrity, Community, Equality, and Stewardship.
At Abington Monthly Meeting, we embrace this symbol with joy, curiosity, and the hope that it sparks conversation. Whether you’re a lifelong Friend or just learning, we’re glad you’re here.
